The inaugural Waterfall City Tournament of Champions powered by Attacq concluded in spectacular fashion on 5 May 2024, marking a significant milestone in South African golf. Held at the prestigious Royal Johannesburg’s East Course, the tournament brought together an impressive line-up of golfing champions, including winners from the Sunshine Tour and the Sunshine Ladies Tour, competing for one of the largest prize pools on the tour.

3 May On the second tournament day, Casandra Alexander set the course alight with an extraordinary round of 61, the lowest of the week, taking a two-shot lead into the weekend. Her precision was showcased with a long putt on the 17th and a pinpoint approach shot on the 18th to set up a birdie.
4 May Moving day saw Louis Albertse making his move and he demonstrated his resilience and skill, finishing with an eagle on the final hole to secure a three-shot lead heading into the final round. Despite early struggles, Albertse’s performance on the back nine, including three birdies in five holes, positioned him as the frontrunner.
5 May Championship Sunday arrived with a buzz of anticipation. Albertse, maintaining his composure, delivered a masterful final round of 64 to claim victory with a seven-stroke lead, finishing on an impressive 23 under par 265. His performance earned him the coveted R1 million first-place prize.
Final standings and notable performances
– Louis Albertse Crowned champion with a final score of 23 under par, Albertse’s consistent performance throughout the tournament was a testament to his hard work and strategic play.
– Casandra Alexander and Rhys Enoch Tied for second place at 16 under par, showcasing exceptional talent and competitiveness. Alexander, representing South African women’s professional golf, pushed hard with a final round of 68.
– Altin van der Merwe The reigning Africa Amateur champion finished as the leading amateur, reflecting the depth of talent within South African golf.
– David Watts and Daniel Slabbert Tied for first in the South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA) competition, both players exemplified resilience and skill.
