23 March 2021. Attacq Limited, the JSE listed REIT developing Waterfall City and Waterfall Logistics Hub, is proud to announce that Australian retail group, Cotton On, will build its new South African Campus within Waterfall’s Logistics Hub.
Cotton On is one of Australia’s largest global fashion brands and has been operating in South Africa since 2014. South Africa boast the largest Cotton On store fleet outside of Australia, with over 160 stores nationwide, as well as an online retail platform.
As part of the Groups further expansion into the region, Cotton On will establish a 21 000 m2 purpose-built campus to serve as the Group’s Southern Africa distribution and operations headquarters. The campus will bring together multiple divisions into one large corporate headquarters. The move is aimed at improving efficiencies, strengthening communication, optimizing supply chain and enhancing workflow processes between teams.
The global fashion retailer will be moving to Waterfall Logistics Hub, which forms part of Waterfall and is centrally located between Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Sandton. Waterfall’s proximity to major highways, transport nodes, and the Gautrain station make it an ideal location for businesses looking for safe premises and an appealing working environment. It is also home to the Waterfall Heliport and to other leading brands such as BMW Group SA, Cummins, Massbuild, Dis-Chem, Pirtek, Zimmer Biomet, Superga, GloTool and Dimension Data.
Natalie Wills, Cotton on Group Country Manager for Africa, says, “The move to Waterfall is in line with our broader Africa strategy to build brand resonance and resilience within the South African marketplace. By bringing our people together all under one roof, we will be able to respond to our customers’ needs more efficiently, while at the same time providing a modern and collaborative work environment for our employees.”
As with all Attacq developments, the Waterfall Logistics Hub prioritises environmental sustainability. All buildings are custom-built with a strong focus on integration, flexibility and efficiency across the warehouse component and offices. Having cross-functional teams on one site enables seamless collaboration, service excellence and improved productivity, thereby enhancing customer experience and satisfaction.
“Attacq is committed to creating community-driven precincts that deliver inclusive, mixed-use environments. We are extremely excited about Cotton On’s move to the precinct and the broader implications for Waterfall. Waterfall Logistics Hub continues to attract premium brands due to its combination of visibility and accessibility along national logistics routes, as well as its close proximity to Waterfall’s retail and lifestyle offerings,” concludes Giles Pendleton, Chief Development Officer at Attacq.
