Iconic US-headquartered, Nasdaq-listed giant is the latest high-profile tenant to cement Waterfall’s position as Gauteng’s tech hub
16 August 2022 – Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO), the worldwide leader in technology that powers the Internet, has announced that it has moved its South Africa offices into The Ingress in the international award-winning development, Waterfall City.
Founded in 1984 by legendary Stanford graduates Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner, Cisco pioneered the concept of local area network (LAN) connections in the nascent era of personal computer rollouts in homes and offices. In the nearly four decades since its founding, Cisco has expanded its offering to cater for the digital transformation that its clients require to remain competitive, including adapting to a changing work environment and ever-increasing security threats.
Cisco’s South Africa General Manager, Smangele Nkosi, said, “Since Cisco provides technology solutions that cater to the future of work, we’re on the coal face in terms of seeing how this has impacted the future of the office. The adoption of rapid technology changes is set to revolutionise the future of office real estate to accommodate the environment for employees to thrive in the new hybrid working future. The office is more likely to become a meeting place for in-person group collaboration and work, where it is required, client meetings and for social connection and interaction with colleagues.”
“Organisations will need to rethink how they see their office space, why employees need it, and how they use it. Our new Waterfall City office meets our needs in terms of this, being a comfortable space that you want to come into a few days a week, with all the infrastructure around it to make it seamless for us to operate our ever-growing African business.”
“Furthermore, we are thrilled to join other leading global brands by anchoring ourselves in one of Gauteng’s trendiest mixed-use developments, replete with all the amenities our team can enjoy.”
Cisco joins tech-centric companies, including Vantage Data Centers, Ericsson, Dimension Data, Accenture, and Sage, that have made Waterfall City their home.
“The Waterfall node continues to attract top corporate brands in its office segments, and we are delighted that such a global tech leader has chosen to relocate its African headquarters to Waterfall City,” commented Michael Clampett, Attacq Asset and Property Management Executive.
“We are particularly gratified that an S&P 100 company of the calibre of Cisco has bought into Attacq’s vision of a mixed-use precinct hub for its employees to thrive. Moreover, as one of the few tech companies to have both pre-dated and survived the dotcom crisis, Cisco has a proven track record of delivering sustainable value for its stakeholders across the globe,” added Clampett.
