A dance of hope: Attacq Care Team’s journey from office to community
In the heart of Attacq’s operations, there’s a rhythm pulsating fuelled by pure, unadulterated compassion. This rhythm found its beat in the form of the Skyrisers programme, particularly within its Care pillar — a symphony composed by the selfless volunteers of Attacq’s Care Team.
Last year, the team orchestrated an event that transcended the ordinary — the first-ever matric dance for the students of Kaalfontein Secondary School. Against a backdrop of economic hardship and the aftermath of a pandemic, the Care Team illuminated the night sky for students who, until that moment, had only dreamed of such a celebration.
The initiative, led by the Skyriser-Care team champions in 2023, saw an outpouring of community spirit. From donated dresses and suits to a fairy-tale arrival in BMWs, the event was nothing short of a Cinderella moment for the matriculants.
Amidst this act of generosity Mr Benjamin Tseleng Moyo, the headmaster of Kaalfontein Secondary, played a pivotal role. He offered the ultimate incentive: The school’s first-ever matric dance, but with a caveat. Students were tasked with improving their grades and the reward would be the dance — a goal that seemed demanding but not unattainable. The matriculants rose to the challenge, their determination palpable, their efforts concerted. And the results were nothing short of miraculous — an astounding 92% pass rate at mid-term! The matric dance was not just a gift; it was a testament to their ability, hard work and perseverance, a well-deserved celebration of their academic triumph.
The transformative power of this evening was evident as the school, which having languished at a 55% Grade 12 pass rate, soared to an astonishing 88% in 2023, claiming the top spot in their region. The MEC of Education was so impressed with the results that he personally went to meet the top four students who achieved these remarkable results.

Moreover, the Attacq Care Team’s compassion extended beyond Gauteng, into the heart of the Cape region with the Leliebloem House initiative. This organisation, dedicated to providing care for vulnerable children, received support in the form of essential toiletry bags. This gesture by the Care Team was not just about meeting immediate needs; it was about instilling a sense of self-worth and dignity in the young lives under Leliebloem’s care. For the team the act of giving became a profound connection to the community, a bridge built from the pillars of the Skyrisers programme to the doorsteps of those in need.
The Skyrisers programme, a tapestry of fun, culture, growth and care, has shown that at Attacq, charity truly begins at home. It’s a philosophy that not only nurtures the people of Attacq but extends to those in surrounding communities who need it most.
